Natural proof of Creation… (even in Noah’s time)

Anti-theists and atheists attempt to deny the existence of God while evolutionist use nature and their limited understanding of the world God created and aim to disprove his eternal existence as the Almighty Creator, only to realize that even naturally in all the events, we see the creation account to be not disproved but proven and validated . Life did not just come to be. God created the world and life of many kinds and man after his own image.

During the time of Noah’s flood, the Bible records that the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened and it rained for forty days and forty nights. In other words, the waters came from below (great deep) as well as from above (heaven). How could waters be separated – some above and some below? To understand this, we need to go back to the creation account. The Bible says that God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven.” (Genesis 1:6-8).

In other words, Noah’s flood gives proof to the creation of the firmament and the existence of waters in the great deep (below) and in heaven (above). Additionally, we can also extrapolate and perceive that in the natural event of the global universal flood during the time of Noah, we see, what God had done during his creation (separating waters from waters) was undone (as the separated waters from below and above now were no longer separated), because of man’s selfish, seditious and sinful nature.

Points to ponder:
First, nature and natural events point to the existence of an intelligent designer – the Almighty Creator, if only the denier takes time to see Christ by whom and for whom, were all things created (Colossians 1:16).
Second, are we selfish, seditious and sinful – so much so – that God has to undo what he has done? Think about it.

Genesis 1:6-8 (KJV)
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Colossians 1:16 (KJV)
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Jade – Sculpted and Sanctified

During our visit to China, on November 10th, 2011, we were fortunate to stop by a Jade Factory, and were amazed by the sculptures and jewelery that were made from Jade. These items were in various shapes ranging from animal forms, vegetables (cabbages mainly), household items and jewelery. They were also of various colors and not just the usual light green, but ranged from different shades of green to white, purple and even black. When going through the tour, behind a glass wall, we observed a man, working on a piece of Jade.  He was shaping that piece into a sculpture. When I pondered about this experience, at a later time, it brought to mind a couple of significant facts from the  Bible.

First, each sculpture had to be made. From the formless structure to the ornate masterpiece, each one had to be carefully and meticulously planned and sculpted. It did not just appear out of thin air with a big bang and somehow found its place in the factory. There was intelligent design behind each item because there was an intelligent creator behind each item. In like manner, each one of us are fearfully and wonderful sculpted by God’s own hands (Psalm 139:14) and even before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God knew us (Jeremiah 1:5) and made us in his very image (Genesis 1:27). He created us. The Intelligent Designer of our being is Jesus Christ, for by him and for him, all things were created (Colossians 1:16).

Second, not all the items in the factory were openly accessible to the public. Some were displayed within glass shelves, kind of set apart. These items were deemed pristine and had a higher price tag. In like manner, we must be set apart by not conforming to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2). In other words, we must be sanctified (set apart) by and for Jesus Christ. The important thing is that God’s hands have sculpted us to conform to God’s patterns (Romans 12:2), and that we are sanctified (set apart) by the blood of God’s Only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Points to ponder:
You and I are God’s masterpiece creation, fashioned according to God’s own design, each to a purpose that He has for us. He has sculpted us; now will you let him sanctify you (if you have not already let Him to)?

Psalm 139:13-18 (KJV)
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

2 Timothy 2:19-21 (KJV)
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

God’s station naturally

George Washington Carver, Inventor and Naturalist, who was known as God’s scientist and dubbed as the Black Leonardo by Time Magazine, is attributed to have quoted “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.”

The very first verse in the Bible, that our five year old, Reuben, is being taught in Sunday School is about God being the Creator, for Genesis 1:1 states, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.  The Psalmist exclaims that the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies sheweth forth his handiwork (Psalm 19:1).

Point(s) to ponder:
1. God’s creation MUST reflect the glory of the Creator.
2. Are you/I tuned into God’s station? If the inanimate heavens and skies declare God’s glory, how much more should we, animated created beings, who are made in the very image of God.
3. Do you/I declare the glory of God, that is in Christ Jesus, proclaiming and showing forth his handiwork (in our lives)?

Psalm 19:1 (KJV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

The reason for creation

Genesis 1:26 records the discussion that ensued in the tribunal  council of the Godhead as God planned to create man. It is recorded as “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” We are not a byproduct of some chance evolutionary process but the result of a conscious plan of an Almighty God. The word “us” and “our” in Genesis 1:26 indicates that the Blessed Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and His Holy Spirit) participated in the creation of man. Creation is the result of the choice of God and not of chance (happenstance).  But did you ever take time to wonder as to the reason for our Creation? Colossians 1:16 which reads “For by him all things created, …, all things were created by him and FOR him:”, answers that question. We are created for Christ. He is the reason for our creation.

Point(s) to ponder:

  1. We are created after careful design and plan BY Christ Jesus, the agent of creation, and not just a product of chance. The God who planned our creation has also planned the course of our life as He declares through the mouth of his prophet, Jeremiah (which means God establishes); plans to prosper us and not to harm us; plans to give us a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 – NIV).
  2. We are created FOR Christ Jesus. This means that while God’s plan is for our prosperity, hope and future, are we for His glory?
  3. Christ Jesus is not only the agent (BY Him) of our creation, but He is the reason (FOR Him) for our creation.

Colossians 1:16 (KJV)
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
